St. Brigid's Cross Wall Hanging

Code: IC-0020-0025-BX01

On St. Bridgets day, February 1st, it is a tradition in Ireland to make a cross from rushes, as St. Bridget did at the deathbed of a chieftain who she converted to Christianity. These crosses are traditionally hung in Irish houses to protect from fire and evil.

This carving is made by a process known as Intarsia, which is the ancient art of making pictorial mosaics by laying precious and exotic woods onto a solid wood surface. Seven different woods are used to make these Celtic designs.

Product comes in a lidded gift box as shown.
